Six Flags Great America – X Flight

Since Great America’s founding in 1976, we have collaborated on more than 300 projects including rides, restaurants, retail outlets, and more. The black ops themed X Flight, is our 14th roller coaster integrated into the Gurnee, Illinois theme park. America’s first “wing coaster” designed by Bollinger & Mabillard features cutting-edge technology and offers the rider an unprecedented feeling of freedom. One of the most adrenaline-pumping moments on the ride is an extreme fly through when X Flight speeds straight toward a control tower structure, before making a last-minute vertical flip to fit through a keyhole cutout, completing a thrilling 360-degree turn. As the coaster makes a low pass over a pond, a simulated vapor cone trail provides riders with another thrill-inspired feature and cool relief on hot summer days. Like many previous projects for Six Flags, the X Flight ride environment was designed and constructed over the extreme Illinois winter months.
