Kings Dominion was looking to bring new life to a section of the park formerly known as Safari Village. We worked with the client to develop the highly-themed Jungle X-Pedition concept and master plan. Jungle X-Pedition invites guests to join in the exploration of the unknown land discovered by the explorer Gerald Winston Whey.
Theming of Jungle X-Pedition is focused on the animals that called this place home centuries ago. Once celebrated in carvings and activities, each animal is represented in medallions at each ride honoring the animal that inspired the attraction. The landscape is littered with ruins and artifacts of the explorers and archeologists who discovered and were studying this lost civilization. Their tents and dig sites can be found throughout the land, as are buildings they constructed to feed and house themselves.
The focal point of Jungle X-Pedition is the new family-friendly S&S ride Tumbili, dedicated to the great monkey god who ruled over the area. Just like the monkeys that once shared the land, guests can tumble and race across the canopy of trees on a rollicking ride. Click here for more information about our work on Tumbili.
