Favorite Things 2015
At the end of the year, we reflect on the past year in business and select a few favorites to feature in Our Favorite Things blog post. From food to building products to outdoor places, we vote for the year’s best of the best. This year we have a bumper crop of favorites – here we go!
A Few of our Favorite Things
Favorite food product – Lonely Tree Olive Oil – a premium quality olive oil from the olives grown in Sparta, Greece – available at The Shanty in Wadsworth, Sunset Foods and Mariano’s.
Favorite tool – The Apple watch is a great personal productivity tool – far more comfy than a blue tooth device on your ear with much more functionality.
Favorite building product – LED light bulbs – the price has gone down + the quality has gone up = the death of the CFL (not on anybody’s favorite list).

Favorite rooftop bar – Shakou Barrington –the pictures say it all. Shakou’s food and drink menu also tops our list. And we are not the only ones who noticed. Shakou Barrington in their first month of operation received the Diner’s Choice Award from Open Table diners for the month of November. And the best news of all…the folks at Shakou (named one of the Top 100 “Hot Spot” restaurants in America by Open Table) are bringing another award-winning restaurant to the Chicago-area – coming soon, Shakou Park Ridge.
Favorite team – Colavita Chicagoland Bicycle Club – we’re a team sponsor – call Bob to join the club!
Favorite experience – Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta – amazing fabric constructions, and they fly!
Favorite parade float – Sweet Home Chicago Architecture – LHS Homecoming parade.
Favorite personal accomplishment – Ride Across Wisconsin – 180 miles on a bicycle in 1 day!
Favorite new theme park ride – We had a tie in this category. Earlier this year, Thunderbird opened at Holiday World Splashin’ Safari. This ride really gets your heart pumping from the start. We’re thankful to Holiday World for asking us to join the Thunderbird team. Plus, Chuck got his picture with Santa!
Justice League Battle for Metropolis is a dark ride – coming soon to Six Flags Great America. We have worked with Six Flags for nearly 40 years and we are once again blessed to be part of the team working on JLBFM. This ride will be fan favorite.
Favorite siding product – James Hardie siding products provide the desired design aesthetic, performance, and durability required on our projects.
Favorite promo item – 12 Gauge Construction’s mini flashlight in the form of a shotgun shell – a truly useful item that ties in well with their branding. Thanks Jim!
