Do What You Love
What is the key to success in business? “Do what you love. And love what you do”.
It might sound a little corny, but I do love my profession, in fact I think of it as a life-style not a job. For the owners of Shakou Sushi “love what you do” is not just a saying on a motivational poster, it’s been the key to success for the Shakou brand (along with a lot of hard work).
After 20+ years of bartending, managing and owning restaurants. Aleks, Chrissy, Adam and Ed were ready to bring a dining sensation with a city-chic atmosphere to Libertyville. In designing Shakou Sushi Libertyville, it was a pleasure to work with a team that was passionate about what they do. That passion lead to success on many fronts: the trendy ambiance of the space, the amazing Asian-fusion food, the beautiful presentation of the food, and rave reviews from diners. Open Table named Shakou one of the top 100 “Hot Spots” in American and TripAdvisor awarded Shakou with the Certificate of Excellence award – a prestigious award that can only be earned through consistently great reviews.
Riding the wave of success, Shakou’s owners were excited to bring modern Japanese cuisine and the restaurant’s unique ambiance to other Chicago-area locations. Shakou Sushi St. Charles is the second location for the Shakou brand that opened this past spring and Shakou Sushi Barrington is expected to also open this year.
When you love what you do, you think about it every day. I think about architecture and design all the time. Not just about buildings or building layouts but about the design of everything all the time, everywhere I go. I appreciate good design when I see it and I cringe when I see bad design. What do I like most about my profession? I find it rewarding to develop a relationship with a client knowing that my involvement will result in an end product that will positively impact their lives.
Do what you love!
