2013 Favorite Things : Fabric, Ovens, and Waterproofing
2013 Favorite Things – at the end of each year, we sit down together to create a list of our favorite products of the past year. This year, we want to feature a few of the products used in our restaurant and bank projects.
Mugnaini Wood-Fired Pizza Oven
Mugnaini makes a great wood fired pizza oven that is beautiful and functional. The fire runs at over 1000 degrees and it cooks a pizza in 90 seconds. The oven weighs about 7,000 pounds and measures 7’ in diameter, so you need plenty of space and a strong structure for one of these babies. We are using one in the Pizza DeVille on the square in downtown Libertyville.
NeverWet waterproofing system from Rust-Oleum
Winner of the Handy Innovation award, Rust-Oleum® NeverWet is a two-step product system designed to create a moisture repelling barrier on a variety of surfaces. One application of this product seems to have prevented moisture from penetrating the concrete brick steps at the entrance to our office building. The manufacturer says it’s suitable for use on metal, wood, aluminum, galvanized metal, PVC, concrete, masonry, asphalt, vinyl siding, fiberglass, canvas, most plastics and more. It was easy to apply, dries fast to a flat finish, and is durable.
DesignTex Upholstery Fabric
Last but not least, DesignTex makes a textured 21 ounce, extreme performance fabric that looks like exotic Caiman. We used Caiman for the seats of the State Bank of The Lakes customer pull-up chairs and paired it with a complimentary decorative fabric for the seat backs. The fabric is 100% polyurethane, with a non-woven backing and a “sta-kleen” finish. Abrasion resistance is an amazing 100,000 double rubs and it comes with a 10 year warranty. The pricing on this product is a very reasonable $37/yd.
